New to Ultimate Team, or back after a break? You unlock the Transfer Market in FC 27 by clearing two separate locks: one inside the game on your console or PC, and another that applies only to the Web and Companion Apps. Finishing the first doesn’t open the second. Here is how each one works, what EA says about waiting and what to do in the meantime.

Lock one · in the game

Graduated Access on console and PC

EA calls the in-game lock Graduated Access. A new club gets the market, and Champions with it, after completing three Objective groups in a set order. You find them in Ultimate Team under Objectives.

  1. 1

    The Journey Begins

The opening group of the starter chain EA calls Foundations, and the first of the three it asks you to complete.

  2. 2

    First Team Dreams

Second in line. The chain hands out Player Items, packs and coins as you work through it, so nothing here is wasted effort.

  3. 3

    Rising Through the Ranks

The last group that counts for access. Market Madness, Chasing Greatness and Total Football follow later in the chain, but EA’s help article names only these three.

  4. 4

    Then a short wait

Full access follows within 48 hours if you play on PC, or within 24 hours on PlayStation, Xbox and the other platforms.

What works during the wait

Between finishing the third group and full access, the market is only half open. Listing items for sale works, while searching the listings, placing bids and Buy Now stay switched off. It’s a good moment to list duplicates and players who won’t make your team.

  • List items for sale
  • Search the listings
  • Bid on items
  • Use Buy Now

Why new clubs wait at all

EA’s explanation is one sentence: “Limiting Transfer Market access for new accounts helps protect the economy from potential rule-breaking activity.” The wait applies to every new account, whatever it plans to do.

Returning players

If you’ve played Ultimate Team before and your EA account is in good standing, EA says you’ll already have access, so the three groups aren’t a gate for you. The app market is a different question, covered next.

Lock two · the apps

The Web and Companion App market

“Completing Graduated Access doesn’t automatically unlock access on the Web and Companion apps,” says EA. The apps follow rules of their own, and most players earn access by playing.

What decides how long it takes

EA names three things: your account’s standing and its history with the rules, the count of Ultimate Team accounts used on that device, and how many active days you’ve built up. EA advisors can’t grant access or say when it will arrive; the game shows a message when it does.

What counts as an active day

EA’s definition, word for word: “An active day is when you’ve played three full matches in Ultimate Team and logged in to the Web or Companion App within a calendar day, following UTC timezones, per Ultimate Team account.” Both halves matter. Three matches without an app login don’t count, and neither does a login on a day when you didn’t finish three matches.

A fourth or fifth match adds nothing: in EA’s words, “playing more than three matches per day won’t increase your chances”. Spreading your games over separate days is what moves things along.

The UTC day, seen from the UK

The calendar day EA counts runs from midnight to midnight UTC. While the UK is on GMT, that’s the same as your own midnight. On British Summer Time it runs from 1am to 1am, so a match at half past midnight in July still belongs to the previous day. The live UK clock for FUT deadlines shows the current window.

Back for another season

Returning players and the launch cut-off

Players who had already earned app market access in an earlier game could have it again from the FC 27 launch, without starting over, as long as their EA account is in good standing. The cut-off depends on which game you earned it in, as the table below shows.

For eligible players, the market was there in the Web App from 16 September 2026 and in the Companion App from 17 September. If yours didn’t open at launch, you’re in the same position as a new player and earn it through active days.

Earned Web or Companion App market access in… (EA Help, FC 27)
GameEarned before
FC 261 August 2026
FC 251 August 2025
FC 241 August 2024

7 November 2026

The console login deadline

EA has added one more condition for both apps: “After November 7, 2026, 11:59:50 PM UTC, you need to log in to Ultimate Team in EA SPORTS FC 27 on your PC or console at least once to continue using both apps.” The UK is on GMT by then, so that’s ten seconds before midnight on Saturday 7 November, UK time.

If you play on a console or PC anyway, you’ll meet it without trying. It catches people who manage their club from the apps alone. EA doesn’t say in so many words that a brand-new player must create an FC 27 club on console or PC first, but it follows from this rule, so plan on doing that.

Bans and blocks

When the market is blocked

Bans from last season

Last season’s market ban stays behind with FC 26. What it takes away is the head start: returning players normally keep their app access, but after an FC 26 market ban you earn it again through active days, like a new club. A franchise-level ban covering EA’s FC games is a different matter and does carry over.

The message to look for

If EA has restricted your account, the Web and Companion Apps tell you directly: the message says the account is blocked from the Transfer Market in the apps for breaking EA’s rules. That means a restriction, not a lock that’s still counting your active days.

What leads to a block

EA’s help pages warn that coin buying or coin distribution through the Transfer Market may lead it to limit or revoke your market access, both on console or PC and in the apps. Coins ordered through this site count as coin buying in EA’s eyes, which is why we say it plainly: read the ban risk explained before you order.

Meanwhile

Make the waiting days count

Mind shared consoles

If someone else in the house runs their own Ultimate Team club on your console or PC, that counts: other accounts created or used on the device push the wait to at least four active days. Worth knowing before you compare notes with a friend whose market opened sooner.

Keep working through Objectives

The Foundations chain carries on after the access groups with Market Madness, Chasing Greatness and Total Football, still paying out players, packs and coins. Anything tradeable you collect now can go on sale the moment the market lets you.

Get your EA account ready

On its FC 27 app page, EA asks you to keep your account up to date and links to two-factor authentication. Once 2FA is on, choose View backup codes and keep them somewhere safe: EA says that when your usual verification method isn’t to hand, these codes are what lets a new device in.

If you plan to order coins

Coins delivered by Comfort Trade go through your club’s market, so wait until it opens in the Web App before you order. The order panel at the top of this page will still be here.

Short answers

Market lock questions

Illustrated fictional playmaker in a white and purple kit with a ball under his arm

Why is the market still locked in the Web App?

Because the apps have a lock of their own. The three access groups in the game open the market on your console or PC only. In the Web and Companion Apps, EA looks at your account’s standing, at other Ultimate Team accounts used on the same device and at how many active days you’ve collected. A good-standing account with no other club on the device normally needs two.

How many matches count towards an active day?

Three, each played in full in Ultimate Team, and on the same UTC calendar day a login to the Web or Companion App as well. EA says playing more than three a day won’t improve your chances, so three games on each of two days beats a long session on one. In summer, remember the UTC day ends at 1am on a UK clock.

Can EA support open the market for me?

No. EA says its advisors can’t grant Transfer Market access in the apps and can’t give an estimate of when it will arrive. The game shows you a message once access is switched on. Until then, the only thing that moves it forward is collecting active days on that Ultimate Team account.

Does a market ban from FC 26 carry over to FC 27?

Not as a ban. According to EA, a market ban from FC 26 is left behind with that game, but the account loses the automatic app access returning players get, so you earn it again through active days. A ban across the whole FC franchise is another matter: it carries over into FC 27.

What do I need to do before 7 November 2026?

Sign in to FC 27’s Ultimate Team once on a console or PC, if you haven’t already. EA’s cut-off is 23:59:50 UTC on 7 November 2026, which is the same moment on a UK clock because Britain is back on GMT by then. Without that login, EA says you can’t carry on using the Web and Companion Apps.
